The Dobbs Ferry Police Department has launched a campaign against drunken driving to coincide with this year's high school graduation season.
The Choose Your Ride campaign involves a car split down the middle to look like both a police cruiser and a taxi.
Police call it a moving billboard they hope will deter drinking and driving. The idea is to get kids wondering about the car's unique look, and then engage them to be mindful of safe driving.
Authorities say the average cost of a DWI in Westchester County is $10,000 in penalties and legal fees. A taxi ride could be around $20. Hence the name, "choose your ride."
And drunken driving can have far worse consequences than legal bills.
"The fatality rate of drinking and driving is an average of 30 per day in the United States," says Sgt. Justin Kamke.
More than 100 seniors will be graduating from high school in the village this weekend, and students from the Youth Services Coalition want to help spread the police department's message.
"Although high school is over, we're just beginning, really," says Megan McDade, a senior at Dobbs Ferry High School. "It's way more important what we have ahead of us in our future than drinking and driving."
The Choose Your Ride vehicle debuted in September.
