Warwick students join nationwide walkouts against gun violence
Warwick High School students joined thousands nationwide Friday in walking out of their school to demand stricter gun laws on the 19th anniversary of the Columbine massacre.
After walking out, the students first sat outside of the school, and then walked 2 miles to Stanley Deming Park, where they spoke in front of dozens of supporters demanding gun reform.
Some students said one change they'd like to see is a full-on ban on assault rifles.
The Warwick Valley Central School District said in a statement on its website it did not condone Friday's event and that any student who participated will serve detention.
