YONKERS -

Yonkers Avenue was shut down most of Thursday night into early this morning after an SUV smashed into a utility pole on Yonkers Avenue.

Police say the crash happened around 9 p.m. when the driver of the vehicle slammed into a pole, snapping it in half.

While the driver was said to be unharmed, the crash brought down wires and resulted in road closures on Yonkers Avenue in both directions between Dunwoody Street and Midland Avenue.

Yonkers Avenue has since reopened.
