Pressure on utility companies could have role in quick power restorationPosted: Updated:
The pressure put on utility companies about last month's outage failures could be playing a role in Thursday's quick power restoration across Westchester.
On Wednesday, more than 700 NYSEG customers in northern Westchester lost power overnight due to strong winds, with most of the outages occurring in Somers and Katonah.
Unlike the destructive storms in March, power was quickly being restored.
"The power went out for about an hour and a half, and for the first time it came back quickly," said Somers resident Joe Ferrara.
Some lawmakers have called for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to launch a full investigation into the March power outages that left tens of thousands of people across the Hudson Valley in the dark - some for more than a week.
Last week, the CEOs of Con Edison and NYSEG met with Albany lawmakers and also agreed that they need to make improvements.
Residents also say that improvements are desperately needed for restoring power moving forward.
