Housing development for seniors opens in Rye

Senior citizens in Rye now have a place to call home after years of demolition and construction.

Vienna is a new $18 million housing development on Theodore Fremd Avenue.

Nearly every county official was on hand at the ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday. They say the piece of property will change the lives of seniors over the age of 62 who are on a fixed income.

The developer said he named the building Vienna because it was the name of his father's beauty salon in Larchmont many years ago.
