Residents in Katonah have major safety concerns about a stretch of I-684 they say hasn't been repaved since the 1960s.

They say the 1 ½-mile stretch between Harris Road and Exit 6 is full of potholes, extremely noisy and that the surface is so uneven it has caused several accidents.

They're putting the blame on the state Department of Transportation. "It's so frustrating. Every year they come up with a reason or excuse as to why they can't do it or won't do it. It's to the point where I want to leave," says resident Beverly Marschae.

Homeowners met with local leaders Tuesday to solicit their help, hoping they could help sway state officials to fix the road before things get worse.

Department of Transportation officials say they've spent $130 million on construction projects on I-684 since 2000, including $70 million over the last two years. They say they are exploring ways to fund a repaving project for the roads along I-684 in Katonah.
