Stratford police say a Bridgeport man was charged with trying to kill his ex-girlfriend.

Police say 22-year-old Mark Febres got into a fight with the woman and that the fight turned violent. They say he went to her home on West Broad Street in Stratford Thursday and attacked her, stabbing her several times.

Police say the suspect fled the scene and was found a short distance away from where the incident happened.

The woman was taken to the hospital, but the severity of her injuries was unknown.

Febres was held on $1.5 million bond.
