Woman sues after airborne golf club breaks her nose

YONKERS -

A Yonkers gym teacher is suing a man she says flung a golf club in anger, breaking her nose.

Mary Tuehy, 55, decided to kick off her Labor Day weekend with a round of golf at Dunwoodie Golf Club in Yonkers.

Tuehy suffered a broken nose when she was struck by a club that was flung from about 40 yards away.

The alleged culprit is Daniel J. Shapiro, who was paired up with Tuehy in the foursome.

The 33-year-old man allegedly lost his cool - and his club - reacting to a poor shot.

Tuehy didn't press charges that day, but has since suffered from resulting health issues and is suing for unspecified damages.

"We're suing for her pain and suffering, and we're suing for the loss of enjoyment of her life," said injury attorney Michael Kaplen.

News 12 reached out to Shapiro for his side of the story to no avail.

Dunwoodie is a public course that requires players to use decorum.
