Inauguration ceremony held for WC Executive Latimer

VALHALLA -

An inauguration ceremony was held Sunday for the new Westchester county executive.

The ceremony for George Latimer was held at Westchester County College in Valhalla. He was sworn in by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

The Rye Democrat and former state senator ousted two-term incumbent Republican Executive Rob Astorino from the seat back in November. He was sworn into office on News Year's Day.

Latimer emphasized unity and the importance of showing respect and civility, especially in light of the current political climate.

He says the first issue on the agenda will be making sure the county is financially stable.

The college made live-streaming video of the event available on its website.
