Outgoing Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino sat down with News 12 to discuss his accomplishments and challenges over eight years in office as he prepares to be replaced in four days.
One of his greatest acts, he said, was halting tax increases.
"I came in here to stop the tax madness, and we did," he said.
On the other hand, one of the hardest challenges he faced was Superstorm Sandy, which battered the region in 2012 and left chaos in its wake.
But overall, the executive sounded happy about this two terms in office.
"It's the greatest job in the world," Astorino reminisced, the shelves in his office largely bare as he prepares to make way for Executive-elect George Latimer. The two had a friendly lunch this week to talk about Latimer's transition into the county's top job, although the outgoing Republican said he would not attend the incoming Democrat's inauguration.
As for what's next, he said he was considering returning to TV and radio, which he'd done before, and also at other business opportunities. And he stopped short of ruling out a return to politics.
"Whether I get back into politics -- I'm not saying yes or no -- I have no idea," he said.
