Sewage spills into Rockland County reservoirPosted: Updated:
A broken pipe has allowed thousand gallons of sewage to leak into a reservoir in Rockland County.
Officials say the pipe burst on Tuesday morning on Convent Road in Blauvelt and spilled the waste into Lake Tappan. Officials say the spill lasted about an hour.
The reservoir provides drinking water to people in New York and New Jersey.
Right now, no drinking water restrictions are in place. "The discharge that occurred was downstream of [the] New York water supply. So the incident has absolutely no impact on water quality for residents in New York or New Jersey," says Billie Gallo, of SUEZ Water.
