Teen struck and killed by train in Valhalla

VALHALLA -

A 16-year-old girl died after being hit by a Metro-North train in Valhalla Monday morning.

The girl was walking across the Cleveland Street crossing when she was struck just before 8 a.m., according to police.

Police have not identified the victim yet, but say she was a junior at Valhalla High School. She was pronounced dead at Westchester Medical Center.

Late Monday, sources said it seemed as if the incident was an apparent suicide.

The Cleveland Street rail crossing was temporarily closed while officials investigated the incident.
