Fog causes holiday traffic jams

Fog caused Thanksgiving Day traffic throughout the area, giving travelers a tough commute home for the holiday.

The fog also caused air traffic at some of the state?s major airports, including Stewart International and Westchester County Airport.

?It took close to an hour in traffic, it was unbelievable,? Roger Gherinei, a traveler from Canada, said.

By Thursday afternoon, much of the morning traffic had cleared up and travel was moving more smoothly on I-87. Local airports are no longer reporting any major delays.

AAA expects more than 31 million people to hit the roads nationwide for Thanksgiving. Travelers are instructed to drive carefully and obey the laws, because police will be out looking for speeders.
