Trio allegedly caught with drugs and baby in back seat

Three people face charges after police say they found them with drugs and a child in the back seat of their car Saturday.

Police say 28-year-old Jeremiah Johnson, 24-year-old Jessica Ruffner and Julio Negron, 43, pulled up to a Yonkers gas station on Tuckahoe Road to get food. Officials say a customer called 911 after seeing the trio acting strangely.

Police say they found 20 bags of heroin, hypodermic needles and pills in the vehicle as well as a 2-year-old girl, Ruffner and Johnson?s daughter.

The suspects face charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child.

The toddler is staying with her grandparents. Child welfare officials have been notified.
