The group Riverkeeper believes certain fish might soon become extinct in the Hudson River due to Indian Point's operations.

The environmental group found 10 of 13 species are in trouble, surprising experts and the organization itself. For years, it was assumed that once the notoriously dirty river got cleaner, fish would thrive.

However, data collected by five power plants in the Lower Hudson Valley shows the fish population has declined since the mid-1970s. Riverkeeper President Alex Matthiessen believes those same power plants could be to blame.

A spokesperson for Entergy, the company that owns the plant, says the company has taken steps to protect fish in the Hudson River.
