Residents protest Warburton Ave. development
Dozens of Yonkers residents came out in the rain Sunday to protest the lack of progress on a Warburton Avenue development.
Residents say construction on the avenue has been an ongoing saga for five years after builders who were hired to redevelop the area into high rise apartments went bankrupt.
"We're living in dust, dirt, horrible conditions," says Lynn Prime, of Yonkers. "They were banging for like 18 hours a day at times."
Residents want the city to rezone, arguing high rises shouldn't be built on Warburton Avenue because of steep slopes.
City Council President Chuck Lesnick says the rezoning issue may be put up for discussion at the council's next meeting April 14.
