4 Harrison men disciplined over Facebook posts
Three Harrison police officers and another town employee were reprimanded Thursday for posting racist remarks and lewd cartoons on the social-networking site Facebook.
The hateful comments targeting President Barack Obama and sexually explicit images directed at Town Supervisor Joan Walsh were discovered in February on the personal Facebook pages of Detectives Rich Light and Frank Massaro, Officer Mike Dilaura and Ed Dibuono. The four men were suspended without pay for 90 days while the town investigated the incident.
Light was demoted to patrolman and will only be allowed to work inside police headquarters. He was forced to forfeit all his vacation and sick time and must take retirement at the end of the year.
The three police officers and town employee are now suspended without pay for 10 days, must forfeit a portion of their salary, complete 30 hours of community service and take a sensitivity training class.
