According to police, the shooting took place just before 3:30 a.m. in the lobby of 217 Hawthorne Ave. Authorities say the victim was confronted by a man and a woman in the lobby of his apartment building. Police say the pair demanded money and when the victim refused to give it to them, they shot him.

The victim was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx with a gunshot wound to the stomach and is listed in stable condition.

Police are looking for a 27-year-old white or Hispanic male, about 5'7" and 180 pounds wearing a black jacket. They are also looking for a white or Hispanic female wearing a grey or cream color jacket.

Police say they have searched the area and so far have found no one matching the description. They say the investigation is ongoing.
