Police: Man who drowned couldn't swim

Police say the man who drowned Monday in the Croton River didn't know how to swim.

According to police, friends warned Luis Gustavo Cardenas-Montaleza, originally of Ecuador, to not go near the water but he eventually dove in.

More than 50 divers and rescue workers searched the swollen waters for three hours Monday after friends lost track of Cardenas-Montaleza. At about 8 p.m., they found his body wedged under a downed tree.
