David Spano, 49, first appeared on the political stage last April when he teamed up with the controversial publisher Sam Zherka. The two launched a campaign pushing for tax cuts and the elimination of county government.

"By running for county executive, I intend to be the last county executive," David Spano declared in a TV ad.

The Democratic Party, however, backed Andy Spano, and David never received enough signatures to get his campaign off the ground.
