Yonkers cops resolve alleged hostage situation

Yonkers police and a SWAT team discovered a cache of weapons Thursday inside a house on Gramercy Avenue where a man had allegedly held his father hostage.

Police say they received a call at around noon about an emotionally disturbed person who was refusing to let his father leave his home. According to authorities, the suspect also threatened to shoot anyone who approached the house.

At around 2 p.m., a hostage negotiator was able to talk the alleged hostage taker into laying down his gun, and he was taken into custody. The man's father was sent to the hospital for a checkup.
