Red Sox fan saves life of young rival

The Port Chester home of 3-year-old Matthew Welling is filled with Yankees memorabilia, but the young baseball enthusiast now has a Red Sox fan to thank for saving his life.

As a baby, Matthew was diagnosed with a rare bone disease that required a transplant. Ten days after the search for a donor began, Steve Karas, of Boston, anonymously donated bone marrow to help save Matthew's life.

"Steve will never miss an opportunity to point out that Matthew has Red Sox blood in him," says Matthew's father, Michael Welling.

The Karas and Welling families have joined together with Aflac and the Boston Red Sox to sponsor bone marrow drives.
