High winds cause accidents, close Tappan Zee Bridge

The Thruway Authority closed the Tappan Zee Bridge in both directions Wednesday after two tractor-trailers flipped over in high winds.

The bridge was closed on and off all morning due to the high winds. Cars were stuck for hours at a standstill when two separate accidents involving tractor-trailers occurred. In on incident the truck flipped over onto a car. No one was injured in either accident.

When the bridge finally reopened in both directions, it was closed to commercial traffic until the winds died down.
