Dozens of senior citizens had to be evacuated Thursday when their nursing home in Yorktown lost power.
All the seniors from the Country House went to the emergency Red Cross shelter in Yorktown after their heat and power went out. The residents were joined by others who also lost power after the storm knocked down trees and power lines across the county.
Luckily the power was restored to the nursing home so the seniors can sleep in their own beds. However, since many hotels are booked solid for the night, plenty of residents will probably take advantage of the many warming centers set up across the county.
