Amani Public Charter School starts 2015 in new building

A Mount Vernon charter school is starting the year 2015 in a new building.

Since its start four years ago, the Amani Public Charter School has used three different locations. Now all 320 students are under one roof at 60 South Third Ave.

The Amani Public Charter School says the institution prides itself on a rigorous academic program for fifth- through eighth-graders. The newly unified school includes a science lab and library.

Debra Stern from the Amani Public Charter School told News 12 that the school finally becoming unified is a blessing. She says they now have the space they need to really enhance their entire program.
