An EMS legend will now be remembered forever at the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services Training Center in Valhalla.
Doctor Nicholas DeRobertis is credited with inventing the guidelines and protocols for first responders throughout Westchester County.
Dr. DeRobertis died of a heart attack last July at the age of 60.
Now a plaque in his memory hangs by the doorway to the classroom where he taught emergency preparedness for more than a decade.
His family took part in an emotional ceremony where the plaque was unveiled.
Dr. DeRobertis also worked at St. Joseph's Hospital for more than 30 years as a physician and administrator.
