Authorities are waiting on autopsy results to positively identify a body that was found floating in the Hudson River by a fisherman at the Westerly Marina in Ossining Friday.
The Westerly Marina is a quarter of a mile away from Croton Point Park, where police say Alex DeSouza went for a swim Tuesday and never resurfaced. The 47-year-old Brooklyn man disappeared about 150 yards offshore at Croton Point Park.
Investigators say DeSouza and two friends had been fishing when he decided to go for a swim. They believe he was pulled away by the strong currents.
Police say that the body found fits the description of DeSouza, but they cannot confirm it is him at this time. The Westchester County Examiner took possession of the body just after 8:30 p.m. Friday.
