Bear tears up property in Pomona

A homeowner in Pomona is sick of unwanted bears on his property.

George Baladi says a black bear destroyed the front gate to his property and tore through his backyard recently.

Baladi says the police came to the scene, but did not confront the bear, saying it was up to animal control to deal with wildlife.

He says all he wants is for someone to do something about bears in his neighborhood. "I have my own registered weapon, but I'm not allowed to shoot bear[s]. I even told the cops, 'I will walk with you, I just want to make sure, in the back of my property, there is no bear in there.'"

Baladi says this is not the first time he's seen bears near his home, but it's the first time a bear has caused damage to his property.
