Crackdown demanded on synthetic marijuana
There's now a call for harsher penalties for stores that sell synthetic marijuana.
State Sen. Jeff Klein (D) wants to increase fines and even jail time for those who sell and distribute synthetic marijuana.
The call for harsher penalties comes after undercover cameras caught a shop owner selling a brand OF synthetic marijuana called K-2 in the Bronx. "Synthetic marijuana has devastating effects on people. It causes epileptic seizures. It causes all types of erratic behavior, personality behavior disorders, and it's extremely dangerous," says Sen. Klein.
Last month, more than a dozen inmates at the Westchester County Jail became sick from K-2 overdoses. It was determined a visitor of an inmate provided the drugs.
