Man shot on South Fourth Avenue in Mount Vernon

A man was shot on Friday on South Fourth Avenue, the location of mayoral candidate Richard Thomas' campaign headquarters.

Surveillance footage from a local restaurant shows a man in a blue shirt walking into the campaign building. Moments later, two men run past the office and down the street. One man appears to be chasing the other.

The video shows police arriving on the scene and barricading the campaign office with tape. Shortly thereafter, an ambulance arrives and the man in the blue shirt is taken away on a gurney.

Officials say the victim is expected to survive.

Police are still investigating the cause of the shooting. It's unclear whether there is any connection between the shooting and the location of Thomas' headquarters.
