Changes are coming to four Catholic parishes in Port Chester, after a decision to start merging parishes was announced by the Archdiocese of New York.
Starting Aug. 1, Sacred Heart of Jesus Church will close and merge with Our Lady of Mercy.
Our Lady the Rosary will also be merging with Corpus Christi Church.
There are plans for another merger in two years to create further consolidation.
Many parishioners have been coming to the same church for years and some say the transition will be hard for them.
The merger comes amid the decision to consolidate resources with fewer people coming to the parishes and a shortage of priests.
