Murdered woman, suspect identified
A Yonkers woman who was stabbed to death yesterday has been identified by the sister of a suspect in the case.
Erica Grant says her brother Nathaniel Grant, 49, was the man who was found bloody and naked on a Yonkers street Wednesday. She says her brother and his girlfriend, Carol Finch, lived together in a third-floor apartment at 53 Glenwood Ave.
It was about 5 a.m. Wednesday when Yonkers police began receiving calls about a man walking through the Glenwood Avenue neighborhood completely naked and covered in blood. After arriving on the scene and taking Nathaniel Grant into custody, investigators followed a trail of blood to the apartment where Grant lived and discovered the body of Finch. Police say the victim died of fatal stab wounds.
Erica Grant, who lives in the same apartment building where her brother and his girlfriend also lived, says the couple had been together for 16 years and never had problems.
Police say Nathaniel Grant also suffered what appeared to be several stab wounds that were not considered life-threatening. They are not sure if he was attacked or if they are self-inflicted.
The suspect is in the hospital, but still in police custody. He is expected to be arraigned from his hospital bed.
