Cops: Gunman assaults pharmacy worker during robbery

Police are investigating after an armed robber held up the Rite Aid pharmacy on South Street in Poughkeepsie this afternoon.

Police say the robber entered the store around 1:30 p.m. and pistol-whipped the store manager before making off with approximately $7,000 in cash.

The store says it has never been robbed before and has since added extra security.

Rite Aid says it's offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the robber.

Anyone with information is asked to call Poughkeepsie police at 845-451-7577.
