A warehouse for a Bronx bakery was destroyed in a fire Monday morning in Mount Vernon.
Artuso Pastry has locations in the Bronx and Mamaroneck. Firefighters say the warehouse fire produced so much smoke that it could be seen from miles away.
The general manager of the Bronx location says the fire is believed to have started in the boiler room. Workers tried to put it out, but evacuated when the flames spread.
Three firefighters were hurt battling the fire, but are expected to be OK. In a Facebook post, the Artuso family said the fire did not affect their Bronx bakery and thanked everyone for their support.
