Stewart-Cousins accuses GOP of playing dirty politics with Westchester's funding
Democratic state Senator-elect Andrea Stewart-Cousins is blasting Senate Republicans for playing dirty politics with Westchester?s funding.
Stewart-Cousins says at least three non-profit organizations, including the environmental group Becsak, the Columbus Day Parade Committee and the Jewish Council of Yonkers, claim they will not get the funding promised by Senator Nick Spano (R-NY). Stewart-Cousins says the funding promises are not being fulfilled because the Republican-controlled Senate is seeking revenge on her after Spano lost by nearly 2,000 votes in the November election. Rosemarie Panio, the head of the Westchester GOP, says she is not surprised Stewart-Cousins may not be able to deliver to many organizations that were dependant on Spano. Panio says Spano had an in-depth relationship with many groups.
Stewart-Cousins says she will fight harder to fulfill the promises, and she is calling on Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno (R-Brunswick) to reinstate the funding to the organizations.
