Dark green and black mold and an ongoing leak have some people in Bensonhurst wondering what exactly the Metropolitan Transportation Authority did with millions of dollars meant for N line subway repairs.
State Assemblyman William Colton says he's outraged because all the money spent to modernize the Avenue N station may have been a waste. He says it hasn't even been a year since the work was done.
Riders say the Avenue N station was one of several that were part of a $396 million modernization project. They say the MTA told them that platforms would be repainted and crumbling concrete would be fixed. And while some of that work has been done, riders still question how there's mold and a major leak.
The station was reopened after extensive structural repairs so as not to continue holding up service for our customers and the work to address these smaller issues will continue while the station remains open, with no expected service impact.  The work will start very shortly and will be completed as soon as possible.
