Red Cross sets up warming centers for heatless Westchester residents
The Red Cross has set up warming centers in Yonkers and across Westchester for residents left without heat and power from a storm Wednesday.
Heavy winds from an early morning storm brought down trees and power lines, leaving nearly 37,000 residents without electricity. The warming centers are open to anyone affected by the storm, and cots have been set up for residents who wish to stay the night. County Executive Andrew Spano (D-Westchester) says it may take several days before things return to normal. Warming Centers have been set up at the Yorktown Community Cultural Center at 1974 Commerce Street, the Croton Falls Fire Department at 1190 Route 35 and the Westchester County Center at 198 Central Avenue in White Plains.
