At rally at Bear Mountain State Park Saturday, nearly 300 supporters and politician gathered to call attention to global warming.

?Step it Up? demonstrators want Congress to step up efforts to curb global warming. They are specifically calling for an 80 percent cut in carbon dioxide emissions by 2050. Protesters also was more people to help too. One suggestion was replacing ordinary light bulbs with a compact fluorescent bulb to save energy.

Westchester County Executive Andy Spano is among leaders pushing for Congress to make global warming a priority. Congressman John Hall (D- 19th District) says the global warming message is reaching Capitol Hill. Hall points to $14 billion that recently went into a fund to research renewable energy. Officials in Orange and Rockland counties say they are making the push toward "greener" government. They hope to replace county cars with hybrid or alternate fuel vehicles.
