The new video lottery terminals are open for gamblers at Yonkers Raceway, however, racing enthusiasts will have to wait to place a bet.
Two weeks ago, the raceway was slapped with 64 fire code violations. Those violations included blocked exits and missing fire extinguishers. The violations extended to the racetrack, putting harness racing on hold. Fire marshals have been a constant presence in the casino until it is found up to code.
Horse owners say qualifying races have taken place in anticipation of the track?s reopening.
