Anthony Mangone, 42, was sentenced Monday to 18 months in prison. United States District Judge Colleen McMahon called Mangone a dirty lawyer, and said he was getting a break and would have gotten a stiffer sentence if he had not pleaded guilty. She said the former Hawthorne lawyer could have gotten up to 45 years.
The former attorney pleaded guilty to bribery, tax evasion and other charges in 2010.
His testimony led to the conviction of former Yonkers Councilwoman Sandy Annabi. Mangone's work with the feds also led to guilty pleas for former state Sens. Nicholas Spano and Vincent Leibell.
Mangone was also sentenced to three years of probation. He will report to a federal prison in March. He has requested to serve his sentence in Pennsylvania at a facility where he will not run into others who were involved in the case.
