Police arrested a man Saturday in connection with the shooting death of a well-loved Yonkers pediatrician that they say was no stranger to his victim.

Police arrested 59-year-old Samuel Saunders, of the Bronx in the shooting death of 46-year-old Dr. Leandro Lozada. Police say the arrest came after banking records and surveillance led them to Saunders. According to police, Lozado?s was found dead in his bedroom Wednesday after he failed to show up at his practice in the Bronx. Police say a large sum of money was missing, which led them to believe Lozada was targeted.

Police discovered that Lozado purchased his home from Saunders a year ago. Police are not clear on what the motive is at this time. They also think Saunders may have had an accomplice. Saunders was arraigned on second-degree murder charges and is being held at the county jail.
