Police in Tarrytown are cracking down on a recent influx of marijuana flowing into the village in candy form.

The crackdown follows two major arrests this week where authorities collected thousands of dollars in drugs.

Charles Riley, 20, is being held in County Jail without bail after police say they intercepted a package of illegal drugs being delivered to him.

In addition to the cash and bullets found at his house, they confiscated thousands of dollars in concentrated cannabis oil and cannabis edibles, found in the form of gummy candy.

Police Chief John Barbelet says he is concerned that the edibles could get into children's hands. If marijuana is legalized in New York state, he believes a lot needs to be done to stop drugs from being targeted to children.

Tarrytown police say they will continue to be vigilant about keeping marijuana sold in all forms out of the community.

The department’s advice to parents is that if you see gummy worms lying around your kids' room, make sure they’re actually candy.
