Police hope tattoo can identify washed up torso in Mamaroneck
Police are hoping a tattoo on the chest of the torso discovered in Mamaroneck will help to identify the victim. The torso of a female, with arms, legs and head missing, washed up Saturday in suitcase in Harbor Island Park. Now, police are hoping a distinct tattoo of two cherries above the woman's breast will be the key to solving this mystery. Police have also been able to determine the victim was either a Latino or light skinned Black woman, between the ages of 35 and 50, who weighed approximately 180 to 200 pounds. A Yonkers tattoo artist says from seeing a picture, it seems as if the tattoo was fairly new. Police searched nearby Mamaroneck and Sheldrake rivers looking for other clues that might link the torso to the area. However, Mayor Phil Trifilletti (R-Mamaroneck) believes recent floods that covered the village and swelled the Mamaroneck harbor may have carried the body part in from somewhere else.
