One person was hospitalized with serious injuries after a grill fire in Milford, officials say.

It happened on Ashburn Lane shortly after 11 a.m.

Authorities say there were two people home when fire jumped from a grill on the rear porch to the back of the house, leaving the victim with burns to the face.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire, and the victim was transported to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment.

It is unclear what caused the grill fire to burn out of control.

The fire is under investigation by the fire marshal’s office.
