Officer recovers PSEG-LI subcontractor’s severed fingers
A quick-acting police officer may have saved a man's fingers after a gruesome accident on the East End.
Police tell News 12 that an unidentified 38-year-old PSEG-LI subcontractor got his hand caught in a shredder Thursday. It happened on West Main Street in Riverhead.
The man was trying to remove a block of ice lodged in the shredder when his glove was caught in the spinner, pulling his hand in and severing four fingers.
A Southampton Town police officer recovered the fingers and brought them to the hospital for possible reattachment.
