The NYPD is asking for help finding a suspect wanted in a burglary in Soundview.
The incident happened on Wednesday around 7:00 p.m.
A safe containing jewelry, credit cards and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from an apartment on Union Port Road.
Authorities say the suspect entered through the window of the apartment and took off with the safe.
Police have released a surveillance photo of the suspect. The photo appears to show a man wearing a flat-brimmed fitted hat and a light-colored sweatshirt.
Neighbors in the community say despite the burglary, they still feel that the area is safe.
