Health care workers rallied in front of Nyack Hospital Saturday afternoon after working without a contract for months.
Organizers from Communication Workers of America Local 1103 say negotiations with Nyack Hospital have stalled and they are running out of options.
The union is currently negotiating a new contract for 130 of its members who are technical employees at the hospital. They hold positions such as surgical technicians and respiratory therapists. Their contract expired in June.
Organizers say negotiations have stalled since September.
The union says it's asking for what they call "modest" wage increases and guarantees of cost sharing health insurance.
"We have members that we represent who cannot afford to live in this area because of the wages they are making," said Thomas Grieco, of CWA Local 1103.
State Sen. David Carlucci was also at the rally and told News 12 that he supports the union.
Nyack Hospital responded to the CWA rally in a statement saying, "We want to reach a fair contract that balances the needs of all parties. Our efforts are focused on what is best for our employees, patients, the communities we serve, and the long term viability of Nyack Hospital."
Organizers say a strike may be their only option if negotiations aren't ramped up.
