A week after a New Rochelle police sergeant was accused of raping a 17-year-old girl, another member of the department now faces charges of theft and auto insurance fraud.

Investigators say Sgt. Anthony Jones, 41, reported to the NYPD that his Land Rover was stolen back in September. However, police say the vehicle was actually set on fire. The 17-year veteran has been charged with grand larceny, insurance fraud and issuing a false sworn statement.

New Rochelle Police Commissioner Patrick Carroll says he's upset by the charges.

"He's a good role model for the other officers," says Carroll. "We're very upset to hear the charges, hopefully there's another explanation for them."

Another New Rochelle police sergeant, David Rodriguez, is also in trouble. He's accused of raping a teen on Feb. 9, though he hasn't been charged with any crime.

Carroll urges the public not to rush to judgment about the two cases.
