Brian Reed, a New Jersey sex offender, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after facing federal charges stemming from a predator sting operation in Rockland County.
According to federal officials, Reed believed he was communicating with a 13-year-old girl on an online platform. However, he was actually engaging with an undercover investigator from the Rockland County District Attorney's Office.
During their conversations, the 36-year-old solicited sexually explicit photos from the girl, expressed a desire to meet for sex, and described explicit sexual acts he intended to perform.
The investigation culminated in a planned meeting between Reed and the supposed girl on May 26, 2022, in Rockland County. Upon his arrival at the meeting location, Reed was promptly arrested.
Reed pleaded guilty to attempted enticement of a minor in October. This conviction follows a previous conviction in 2016, which led to his inclusion on the New Jersey sex offender registry.
In addition to his 15-year prison sentence, Reed has been ordered to serve a lifetime of supervised release, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions following his incarceration.
