A Rockland County company is still apparently doing business Monday, three days after company CEO Gabriel Letizia Jr. pleaded not guilty in federal court on charges he falsified results for three decades on sunscreen and other cosmetic products the company tests. The products from AMA Laboratories in New City were sold to the public.
Letizia's attorney, George Weinbaum, told News 12 by phone that his client did nothing wrong, and that four other AMA employees were the ones who falsified testing results for the cosmetic products many people use every day.

"Those were the rogue employees. They pled guilty in federal court. My client has pled not guilty," says Weinbaum.

Weinbaum added that his client is now suing those employees.
According to the indictment, Letizia knowingly directed employees to test products on fewer people than required and to report the false results.
Weinbaum argues the FDA conducted regular reviews on AMA for years and never uncovered any wrongdoing.

"They do these audits, they do these inspections and they never found any irregularities," says Weinbaum.

Back at AMA, News 12 tried to find out if Letizia was at work after posting $500,000 in bail Friday.

News 12 was asked to leave the property by a man who refused to say whether he worked for AMA. That man called police.  This happened while a sign outside AMA continues to advertise for sunscreen testers at $25 per hour.
